How far out do you book?

Some of our dates are booked two years or more in advance- for weddings, family reunions and vacations, and retreats. We make every effort to accommodate our clients’ schedule, so reach out and lets find a date that works for you!

When should I book?

As soon as you can. Early booking gives you first pick of dates and times.

Do you take last-minute sessions?

Yes, if we have availability, we’ll make it work.

What time of day do you shoot?

For outdoor shoots, usually early morning or early evening but for studio shoots- anytime!

What are your rates?

We have quite a few packages to choose from and it’s always best to have a quick conversation with us to see what’s best for you and your budget.

Do you take Business portraits?

Absolutely- and much better than the cell phone shot.

Do you offer mini sessions?

No.

Is there a travel fee on Hilton Head?

Yes—$100/hour driven.

Do you travel beyond Hilton Head?

Absolutely.

Where do you shoot?

We are located at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Our gallery address is 9 Harbourside Lane, Unit A. Directions to our gallery may be found here.

Often at the Sea Pines Beach Club, plus on-location at homes and other spots. Favorites: • Six Oaks Cemetery — stunning oak canopy with Spanish moss (we edit out tombstones) • Tower Beach — incredible sunsets over the water (access rules may apply; we’ll advise)

What are the best locations?

Sea Pines Beach Club, your home, Six Oaks Cemetery, and Tower Beach.

What should we wear?

Coordinate, don’t match. Skip busy patterns (stripes, polka dots). Choose colors that play well together—teal, light blue, coral, peach photograph beautifully. Go for linen/cotton that holds shape in wind; avoid clingy jersey/silk. If you’ll splash in the water, pick shorter dresses, shorts, or capris.

Can we bring props?

Yes—sports gear, beach toys, sentimental items. I also bring a small wooden bench for comfort and posing.

Do you have a style or color guide?

Keep it simple and mostly solids. Add one pop of pattern in a scarf or statement piece. Great pairings: navy + white, gold + green, teal + coral.

How do you handle pets?

I adore dogs. With permission I bring treats—and yes, I do a little howl to get those ears up.

How do you handle young children?

Play first, pose second. With parent OK, I keep Smarties as a backup “surprise” (the baby-bird “tweet tweet” routine is a hit). I use peekaboo, silly faces, and movement—walking, running, splashing—so smiles are real. Signature moment: the run-and- hug, especially with grandparents.

Can you accommodate mobility needs?

Yes. We’ll choose smoother locations like Six Oaks or in-home/studio. On the beach, we stay near the walkway. I can bring a bench for resting and posing.

How long does a session last?

Typically up to an hour. Large groups (30+) about 90 minutes. Some sessions (like multi-location engagements) run longer when everyone’s having fun.

Posed or candid?

Both. I’ll “human-Tetris” your group for flattering poses, then prompt genuine moments—hand-in-hand shoreline walks, sing-alongs with the kids, playful splashes, even full-on water embraces.

Do you provide a sneak peek?

Yes—for weddings and engagements.

How many photos do we get?

Family/Business: as many as you purchase. Weddings: about 100 images per hour of coverage (e.g., ~800 for 8 hours).

Digital files vs. prints—can we choose?

Yes

Turnaround time

Family: retouched digitals in 2–3 weeks; prints/wall art/albums in 4–6 weeks. Weddings: sneak peeks next day; full gallery about 4 weeks (coverage dependent).

Photobooks and framed prints

Yes—lots of album options, wall portraits, and custom framing (same trusted framer for 20+ years).

Do you retouch blemishes or flyaways?

Yes. Our long-time retouchers soften skin, tame flyaways, and remove background distractions (people, chairs, umbrellas, houses). We also offer head swaps—great for wiggly kiddos or camera-shy grandpas.

Do you photograph surprise proposals?

Yes! I’ll plan the logistics and spring into action at the big moment.

Do you do headshots at my office?

Yes—on-location, in-studio, environmental, or a mix.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes—printed gift certificates (perfect for holidays). You can also add a dollar amount toward a future order.

Do you have multiple photographers?

Yes. I photograph as much as possible and also work with David (summers from NC) and two local photographers, Tristyn and Allex—all trained in our vivid, contrast-forward style with off-camera lighting, expert posing, and candid capture.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

We’re flexible and weather-aware. Hilton Head can flip fast, so when you’re comfortable, we try same-day adjustments. Moody skies can be gorgeous, but we’ll do what feels right for you.

Do we need a deposit?

Family: session fee to reserve (fully refundable with 24 hours’ notice). Weddings: 30% to secure your date. Contract states non-refundable, but with advance notice I do my best to accommodate refunds.
