SITE solutions is working with Heath and Lineback Engineers to develop the third phase of the S&S Greenway trail running between Statesboro and Brooklet in Bulloch County.
The trail follows a former rail bed for the Savannah and Statesboro Line, which was created to move turpentine and cotton from Statesboro to the Port of Savannah in the mid-1800s.
The trail moves through several contexts along its three-mile route, from suburban through farmlands, wetlands, and the village environment of downtown Brooklet, Georgia.
The design emphasizes these varying contexts through planting design that suits the surrounds while providing an opportunity for education and habitat for micro ecologies.
Two trailheads are planned along this section of the trail – one in downtown Brooklet, and a second within a turn of the century tobacco drying shed. Amenities will include interpretive plantings and exhibits along with restrooms and other amenities.
Status: In progress
